FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you publish books in languages other than English?
Yes, but our primary focus is publishing in English. If there is a growing demand for a particular title to be translated into another language — including Braille — we’ll bring that to the author’s attention and discuss it together. If an author requests a translation, they have final approval on the translator we use. Because a translated book is essentially a brand-new product (requiring its own ISBN, interior layout, and publishing work), it will be treated as a new project, and the author will need to purchase a publishing package for it. We’ll coordinate everything to ensure a smooth process, but the costs will be the author’s responsibility.

2. What binding options do you offer?
We typically use the binding options available through Amazon and IngramSpark, which include:

Paperback (Perfect Bound) — the standard softcover most readers are familiar with.

Hardcover (Case Laminate) — a sturdy, printed-cover format.

If an author wants a special edition—such as one with vintage-style covers, leather binding, or other specialty finishes—we can reach out to printers, obtain quotes, and help make it happen. In these cases, the author covers the extra printing and setup costs for those special editions.

3. Do you offer other formats besides print?
Yes. Our standard release includes both paperback and Kindle eBook formats. If an author requests it, we can create a hardcover edition at no extra cost.

For audiobooks, authors have two options:
Hire their own narrator/producer and cover those costs directly.

Work with our voice actor on retainer. If you choose our narrator, we’ll provide a quote for the recording. Once the payment is made and the audio is approved, we’ll publish the audiobook for a one-time upload fee of $75.

4. How are royalties calculated and paid?
Royalties are based on net sales—that’s what’s left after printing, shipping, and distribution costs are deducted. We send royalty payments quarterly (a few days after each quarter ends) along with a detailed sales report. Our standard split is 25% to the author and 75% to the publisher—with about half of the publisher’s portion reinvested into marketing and sustaining operations.

Example Breakdown:
List Price: $10.00

Amazon’s Share (40%): $4.00

Net Royalty: $6.00

Author (25%): $1.50

Publisher (75%): $4.50

5. Will I be charged for unsold printed copies?
No. We don’t charge “overstock fees” or other penalties for books that don’t sell.

6. Can I publish an updated edition of my book in the future?
Absolutely. Expanded or revised editions follow the same process as publishing a new book. You’d choose a publishing package, sign a contract, and receive a new ISBN. Royalties are calculated the same way as with new releases.

If we find an error in your book after publication, we’ll fix it for free. But if your changes go beyond a minor revision, it might require a second edition or reprint.

7. Do I need a separate email or media profile for my author brand?
It’s not required, but it can help a lot—especially for connecting with readers, handling press requests, and keeping your personal inbox separate. Some authors simply use their personal social media, while others set up new accounts specifically for their author persona.

If you’d like, we can help guide you through creating a professional author email address, setting up social media profiles, and making sure everything is consistent. We’ll also create your author page on our website at no charge, so you have a professional place we can link to when promoting your work.

8. How does the author photo process work?
You have final approval on your author photo. Most authors provide their own, but if you’d like professional photos, we can recommend photographers or connect you to ours. You would cover any related costs.

9. Are there certain types of content you won’t publish?
We aim to give every author a fair chance and don’t discriminate based on genre, theme, or personal beliefs. That said, we won’t publish content that promotes universally condemned ideas (for example, condoning cruelty to innocent animals or other extreme, harmful material).

10. How do you handle disagreements with authors?
We believe in open, respectful communication. If a disagreement arises, we’ll discuss it directly and do everything possible to reach a solution that respects both your creative vision and our publishing standards. If it can’t be resolved, we’ll follow the mediation process outlined in our contract.
